The Beijing Olympics inaugural ceremonies are this Friday, but long before that retailers have viewed China as their next gold mine. In spite of attempts of innocuous consumerism, the underground brought us artists and musicians with a fresh paradigm. But the now big name Chinese artists have in turn invested their riches in Beijing restaurants and Gucci suits. Getting back to the grassroots, Converse has put together a Chinese indie band bus tour for the beginning of August featuring bands PK14 and Queen Sea Big Shark.
